The Yard

Situated just outside The Iron Horse Hotel, The Yard serves as the property’s signature open-air patio restaurant and bar. It debuted alongside the boutique hotel in September 2008 following the conversion of the century-old Berger Bedding factory, carrying that same historic character outdoors. While it functions primarily as a warm-weather destination, the space remains lively well into the crisp autumn chill of October.

The atmosphere strikes an effortless balance between industrial grit and relaxed backyard hospitality. Seating ranges from low-slung lounge sectionals to communal tables anchored by glowing fire pits. Overhead, a clear plexiglass canopy covers most of the bar area—allowing plenty of natural light through while shielding guests from wind and sudden rain. High-output overhead heaters line the bar area, keeping the space comfortable deep into the fall. As an added bonus, it is exceptionally dog-friendly, frequently hosting community adoption events in partnership with the local Humane Society.

The menu is thoughtful and surprisingly elevated for an outdoor venue, running the gamut from crisp dry-rubbed wings and specialty burgers to artfully assembled charcuterie boards and fire-seared steaks. Much of the fare is prepared directly over open flames across two dedicated wood-fired grills, lending a distinct, smoky finish to each dish. Our party of ten sampled broadly across the menu, and every plate we shared delivered on flavor, execution, and presentation.
