Saint Kitts and Nevis is a small, twin-island nation located in the Caribbean Sea, known for its stunning natural beauty and rich history. The country is the smallest in the Western Hemisphere, with Saint Kitts being the larger of the two islands and Nevis, the smaller, lying just to the southeast. Surrounded by crystal-clear waters, lush rainforests, and volcanic peaks like Mount Liamuiga, Saint Kitts and Nevis offers breathtaking landscapes. The islands have a colonial past, with influences from the British and French, and were among the first Caribbean islands to be colonized. Today, the country is renowned for its vibrant culture, warm hospitality, and thriving tourism industry, attracting visitors with its beautiful beaches, historic sites, and opportunities for hiking, snorkeling, and exploring its colonial architecture.
While we have not visit Saint Kitts & Nevis yet, it is definitely on our short-list. From Montserrat, you can see Nevis to the northwest less than 40 miles away.
During one of our stays in Montserrat at Trelawney, there was a cookbook in the home titled “Nevis Great House Cookbook” that had some great recipes from Nevis’ historic sugar plantation inns. The cookbook was dated from the 60’s and many of the restaurants are no longer there. A few recipes that intrigued us were from the Nisbet Plantation, Golden Rock, and Croney’s Old Manor Estate.
