Ingredients

  • 3 tsp. dry yeast granules
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 1/3 cup warm water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

Instructions

  • Place the yeast and sugar in a large bowl; cover with warm water (not hot) and let stand 20 minutes.
  • Stir in salt and olive oil; add flour and knead dough until smooth.  Cover hands with salad oil to prevent sticking.
  • Place dough into a greased bowl, cover with a cloth and let stand for 4 hours.  Punch dough down and spread onto 2 pizza pans.  Allow to stand for an additional 2 hours if you want thick, Sicilian-type dough. When spreading onto pans, wet hands with water to prevent sticking and give a crunchy texture.
  • Prebake crust for 15 to 20 minutes at 375 degrees.  Remove from oven and cover with your favorite pizza toppings.
  • Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
