Pizza Crust

Ingredients

  • 3 tsp. dry yeast granules
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 1/3 cup warm water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

Instructions

  1. Place the years and sugar in a large bowl; cover with warm water (not hot) and let stand 20 minutes.
  2. Stir in salt and olive oil; add flour and knead dough until smooth.
    1. Tip: cover hands with salad oil to prevent sticking).
  3. Place dough into a greased bowl, cover with a cloth and let stand for 4 hours.  Punch dough down and spread onto 2 pizza pans.  Allow to stand for an additional 2 hours if you want thick, Sicilian-type dough.
    1. Tip: when spreading onto pans, wet hands with water to prevent sticking and give a crunchy texture.
  4. Prebake crust for 15 to 20 minutes at 375 degrees.  Remove from oven and cover with your favorite pizza toppings.
  5. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
