Carr’s Bay Battery

Right off the main road (Brades Rd) just West of the main junction is the remnants of the Carr’s Bay Battery.  Built by the French in the 1660’s during their brief occupation, the now absent fort housed a gun battery with several magazines that protected Carr’s Bay from invading forces.

In addition to Carr’s Bay, there were also batteries in Plymouth, Kinsale, Bransby Bay and Old Road Bay.
