The Korean War Veterans Memorial, located just southeast of the Lincoln Memorial, is dedicated to honoring the members of the U.S. armed forces who served during the Korean War.
In 1986, President Ronald Reagan established the Korean War Veterans Memorial Advisory Board to recommend a design and location, and to seek the funding for its construction. The memorial’s official dedication took place on July 27th, 1995, which was also the 42nd anniversary of the end of the war.
In 2016, President Barack Obama signed the Korean War Veterans Memorial Wall of Remembrance Act, authorizing the addition of the names of the fallen to a memorial wall. The new remembrance wall was dedicated on July 27th, 2022, the 69th anniversary of the end of the war.

Designed by sculptor Frank Gaylord, the 19 stainless-steel statues marching out of the tree line depict life as a soldier during the Korean War, evoking the harshness and terrain they encountered.
In its polished face, the granite wall adjacent to the soldiers in the field reflects the images of actual American servicemembers etched into it. In addition to the photographs, the wall reflects the images of the 19 statues marching through the field.
